The motif side of the coin depicts a Kangaroo standing on a grass mound. In the background are a rising sun and two trees that bend along the coins edge. The engravings read “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO”, “2019 1/10 OZ 9999 GOLD” and the letter “P”, which stands for the Perth Mint.

The reverse side shows the new effigy of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The design was created by Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark. The inscriptions that surround the outer coin edge include “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and “15 DOLLARS”.
