Kangaroo 1/10oz Gold Coin 2018
Perth Mint
Founded in 1899 in Perth, Australia. The Perth Mint holds the world record to mint the biggest gold coin with 1012 kg. Globally loved by investors for their high quality and wide range of investment and collectors coins.
The 2018 Kangaroo gold coins have arrived. The 1/10 oz kangaroo in gold from the Perth Mint is the smallest size in the series. The Kangaroo gold coin was originally released as the “Gold Nugget” in 1986. However, in 1989 the design changed to feature kangaroos, which is a more recognizable symbol for Australia.
The Kangaroo has since become one of the highest quality and best selling bullion coins in the world. Gold Kangaroos are popular with both investors and collectors.
Weight, Size and Fineness
The fractional size Gold Kangaroos are available in ½ oz, ¼ oz and 1/10 oz. They have a fineness of .9999 and come in brilliant uncirculated condition. The key specifications for the 1/10 oz size are as follows:
Weight: 1/10 ounce
Diameter: 16.1mm
Thickness: 1.3mm
Nominal Value: 15 Dollars
Design
The new 2018 design features two kangaroos jumping in the outback with an image of the sun in the background. The design was created by Neil Hollis and celebrates Australia’s best known animal. The inscriptions on the front side read:
-
“Australian Kangaroo”
-
“2018 1/10oz 9999 Gold”
-
“P” which stands for the Perth Mint
-
“NH” which are the initials for designer Neil Hollis
The reverse depicts the iconic image of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait of the Queen was designed by artist Ian Rank Broadley. His initials can be seen under the motif of the Queen. Along the outer edge of the coin the words “Elizabeth II” “Australia” and “15 Dollars” are embossed.
Fractional Size Coins
Fractional size bullion coins have a number of key advantages to investors and collectors.
-
Fractional size coins offer lower price points than the traditional 1 ounce size.
-
They also provide a variety of different sizes to choose from. The ½ oz coin is the largest fractional size Kangaroo in the series, while the 1/10 oz is the smallest.
-
Because of the lower price points fractional size coins can be used for barter and trade.
-
Due to their small size, fractional coins are easy to store and transport.
The one disadvantage of fractional size coins is they will typically carry a higher premium than the 1 ounce version.
