The Queen’s Beasts are stone statues, originally commissioned for the coronation of Elizabeth II to stand guard at Westminster Abbey. They are mythical creatures representing the ancestry of the queen. The Royal Mint in the UK instructed designer and illustrator Jody Clark to create the collection of ten coins to pay tribute to the statues and their fascinating history.
The Yale of Beaufort is shown on the reverse of the coin, it is depicted as what looks like an antelope or a goat with a shield in the foreground.
The obverse displays Jody Clark’s portrait of Elizabeth II together with the face value of the coin which is 25 pounds.
