Value side
The value side of the China Panda gold coin always remains unchanged, showing the Temple of Heaven (Chinese: Tiantán) in Beijing. Inscripted above the temple, in a semicircle, is the "People's Republic of China" in Chinese characters. The year of issue is stamped on the bottom of the coin.
Scene side
The reverse side of the coin depicts a giant panda eating a bamboo shoot.
In his right paw he holds a single bamboo branch with several leaves. Along the top outer edge of the coin are the fine weight of “8g”, the elemental symbol for gold “Au” and the fineness of “999”. Along the bottom outer edge is the nominal value of 100 yuan.
