The 2017 China Gold Panda coins have arrived! First introduced in 1982, the Gold Panda is struck from .999 fine gold. In 2016, the Chinese Mint changed the weighting system of the Panda from ounces to grams.
The ¼ oz gold Panda was replaced with the 8 gram gold coin. The China Panda is the first brand name gold coin that is measured in metric grams. The 2017- 8 gram Gold Panda is brilliantly designed and one of the most popular fractional gold coins on the market.

The 2017 Gold Panda series is available in 5 standard sizes which include 30g, 15g, 8g, 3g, and 1g. Larger weight sizes are available in proof editions and include 50g, 100g, 150g and 1 kilo.

Design
China Gold Pandas are one of the few bullion coins on the market that feature annual design changes. However, the reverse side of the coin will always depict an image of a black or white panda. The annual design changes increase the appeal of the coin series.
The reverse side of the newly designed 8 gram coin depicts a panda sitting down hold a bamboo stick. Inscribed on the reverse side are the nominal value, weight and purity.
The front of the coin shows the famous image of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Surrounding the outer edge of the coin are the inscriptions “PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA” in Chinese characters and the year “2017”
History
The Chinese Mint first introduced the Gold Panda in 1982 in four sizes which included 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz and 1/10 oz. In 1983 the 1/20 oz size was added. The Panda has always been issued with different annual panda designs.
The only exception was in 2001 and 2002 when the designs were identical. The annual design changes appeal to both collectors and investors. Annual design changes are a unique feature of investment gold coins.
The Gold Panda is minted in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Shenyang.
