Design/Appearance
Obverse:
Since 1982 the design has remained the same. The Temple of Heaven Harvest Hall with Chinese characters reading around the top. The stand for “People's Republic of China”. The year of issue „1989“ is shown at the bottom. The sizes of the year may vary showing two mints were involved.
Reverse:
A single seated panda is seen holding a bamboo branch leaning to the left. Under the Panda Chinese characters display the size, ¼, .999 and the nominal value of 25 in large numbers and the Yuan symbol to the right. At the very bottom of the coin the inscription “1/4 OZ Au“ can be read.
