The 1/4oz China Panda 1983 is a much sought after 99.9 fine gold coin. Panda gold coins are minted in several Chinese mints. Chinese mints usually do not employ mintmarks. Minor variations in layout on the coins exist in some years to identify actual mints.
Design/Appearance
The Obverse:
Picture of the Abundant Harvest Hall of Prayer in the Temple of Heaven with Chinese characters reading on top. "Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo" meaning People's Republic of China. The year of issue „1983“ is shown at the bottom.
Reverse:
One joyful panda. Around the Panda motif on the rim Chinese characters display size, 1/4, (Au 1/4 OZ), and purity 99.9%. Below the panda the figures 25 and symbol for Yuan are displayed.

A total of 43,827 coins were minted.
The 1983 1/4 oz coin has 22mm diameter.
