The 1000 Schilling gold coin shows Friedrich II on horse who was Herzog from 1230 to 1246 the last male of the Babenberger family. Inverse of the coin shows the Austrian Eagle in the traditional way.
The Austrian Mint produced 1.800.000 coins in 1976 which was sold out on the same day and therefore the mint produced more.
Gertrude Simon designed the coin and the coin was minted with a purity of 900/1000 in the tradition of the Goldkrone.
