Gold coins must in this case be recognised as investment coins and meet four criteria: the coin must have been minted after 1800; be of a purity of 900/1000; the value of the gold coin may not exceed more than 80% of the open market value; and the coin must be legal tender in the country of manufacture.

American Eagle

The gold bullion coin American Eagle is minted by the United States of America. The superior office of the four mints is the United States Mint. The first issue of the American Eagle was in 1986. Britannia
