This year’s motif showcases two elephants in the African savannah, seemingly engaged in an imminent battle. A bull elephant is shown charging in the centre, while the targeted elephant is visible on the left edge. The lower third of the image depicts the African steppe, with the afternoon sun positioned in the upper right quadrant. The background of the coin remains mirror-smooth. This edition particularly highlights the exceptional skills of the designers and engravers, with a depiction so detailed and lifelike, it feels as if you are capturing the scene up close with a lens. The inscription encircling the design reads "AFRICAN WILDLIFE", "ELEPHANT" and "1 oz Ag 999.9".
The value side features the Somali national coat of arms with the year of issue split either side. Above is the inscription "SOMALIA REPUBLIC" and below is the face value "100 SHILLINGS". The edge of the coin is adorned with a border of dots.
