The largest coin of the Perth Mint Lunar II 2018 silver series is the 1 kilo or 1,000 gram variant. Due to the higher weight, the 1 kilo silver coin has a low premium and is popular with investors all over the world.

The coin celebrates the eleventh year in the 12 year Chinese zodiac. The original Lunar coin series from the Perth Mint began in 1996 and because of its success, the mint launched the Lunar II series in 2008. These coins have exceptional quality and are some of the most widely collected bullion coins.

Year of the Dog

Each year the Lunar II series introduces a new animal design that is based on the ancient Chinese lunar calendar.  2018 is the year of the "dog". People born in the year of the dog (1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018) have the following characteristics: honesty, kindness, loyalty and reliability.

The 1 kilo Lunar II dog silver coin is equipped with riffel edge and edge bar. The border protects the subject, and increases the stackability of the coin.

Scene side

The motif side of the 2018 Lunar II dog shows an adult German shepherd with puppy. The dog's gaze is directed to the right. To the left of the dogs are Chinese peony flowers. The dogs are shown lying in a meadow.

On the right area of the coin above the paw of the adult dog, the Mintmark "P" is stamped for the Perth Mint. Under the motif is the lettering "Year of the Dog". In the center in the upper part of the coin, the word "dog" can be seen as Chinese characters.

As usual with all Commonwealth coins, the value side shows an image of Queen Elizabeth II. Here it is represented in the profile with diadem and earring. The portrait depicted here is from 1997 by the designer Ian Rank Broadley. His initials "IRB" are imprinted below the neck.

The circulatory inscription includes: "ELIZABETH II", the country "AUSTRALIA", the size, fineness and the metal "1KG 9999 Ag", the official vintage "2018" and the nominal value "30 Dollars".

The 1 kilo Lunar II dog silver coins are popular because they offer investors a higher weight product with a relatively low premium compared to smaller weight silver coins. Investors who are looking to acquire the most amount of silver at the lowest premium should consider the 1 kilo coin. The Lunar II 1 kilo coin also provides investors with a higher weight silver product in the form of a beautifully designed coin.
