Buying Silver Coins

The two factors that mostly contribute to the price of Silver are first, the price of the metal Silver which trades on the different exchanges around the world. The Silver price can experience volatile price movements depending on demand and availability.

The second factor is the premium. When buying Silver coins and bars a premium is added to the Silver price and covers the production costs and margin of the mint and precious metals dealer.

Generally speaking, coins will carry a higher premium than bars, because coins are more expensive to mint. Typically, the smaller the coin, the higher the premium will be. Those investors who are purchasing a large amount of Silver will often choose bars because of the lower cost.

Premiums can vary significantly so it is always a good idea to compare prices. However, be sure to buy from a precious metals dealer who has a proven track record and a good reputation in the industry.

When choosing between coins and bars it’s all a matter of personal preference. Both are a good investment. Many Silver investors opt for a mix of both bars and coins. Depending on supply and demand sometimes the sell back price for coins can be higher than bars.

In Europe VAT will be charged on silver making bars higher in cost than coins which can be bought VAT free in CelticGold’s Estonian branch.

It all depends on what the demand is for the particular coin at the time you decide to sell. Name brand Silver coins and bars that are sold by CelticGold are easy to buy and and sell anywhere in the world.
