The new silver coin has an edge bar and a rippled edge that not only look very beautiful, but also serve several functions. The edge bar adds stability to the coin and protects against unnoticed separation from silver parts. Furthermore, the 1oz silver Kangaroo 2016 has a safety feature in the form of the laser mark "A" which stands for Australia. The inscription of the front and the back is placed on a wavy background.
The front depicts a Kangaroo, which was used in the first Kangaroo gold coin series in 1990. The representation of the red kangaroo is also shown in the 1 kg Kangaroo gold coin. On the right and next to the motif near the edge bar, the mint mark "P", which stands for Perth Mint, can be seen. An aureole, which stands for the sun, is pictured in the background. The label on the design shows the name of the silver coin "Australian Kangaroo". On the bottom of the coin near the edge bar the year “2016”, the fineness of “9999” and the word “Silver” is minted.
The motif on the back is typical of Perth Mint and Commonwealth bullion coins. It shows Queen Elizabeth II who has been the regent of the United Kingdom since 1952. The profile of Queen Elizabeth is presented with a tiara on her head. The labeling of the reverse reads "Elizabeth II, Australia, 1 Dollars."
History of the Kangaroo Silver Coin
The history of the new Australian Kangaroo 1oz Silver Coin 2016 is short. It began with the first edition of the famous Nugget gold coin in 1986, that was renamed to Nugget / Kangaroo in 1989. After the import ban of Krugerrands in 1986, many mints started producing gold bullion coins and distributing them worldwide. Among them is the Perth Mint, which has been very successful with the Lunar gold and silver coin and the Nugget / Kangaroo gold coin series. Next to the the Lunar II silver coins series, the Perth Mint also makes the Koala and Kookaburra silver coin series. As the demand for silver coins for investment purposes is continuously very high, the Perth Mint decided to bring the Kangaroo bullion coin in silver to the market in 2016.

Buyers of Kangaroo silver coins should pay attention to the current price of silver. As silver prices go up and down naturally, buying at a high silver price could mean that you can lose money if the price falls. Investments in silver should be intended for the long-term.
Furthermore, precious metal dealerships often offer volume discounts. Here you can maximize the purchase price when buying larger quantities.
Another tip we are happy to share is regarding the handling of 1oz Kangaroo silver coins 2016. The coins have a very high silver content.
