Diversifying into Semi-Numismatics

Semi-Numismatics are bullion products that became so popular over time that different series, amongst them the most popular Lunar II series, started to trade at a collectors value.

In comparison to other bullion products, semi-numismatics add stability into a gold and silver portfolio and also drive performance. At CelticGold, we did an in-depth research in the our free Knowledge Center that we call Gold University. The research is available here.

Depending on the different markets over Europe, the Lunar II Horse in good condition can trade anything from 82 - 100% over spot.

2014 - The Year of the Horse

The horse is the seventh animal in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The horse symbolizes character traits that include strength, energy and an outgoing nature. Horse personalities are also believed to be intelligent and can easily grasp new subjects. The birth years of the Lunar Horse are 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 and 2014. Famous people born under the horse are Isaac Newton and Neil Armstrong.

The Lunar II Horse 1 kilo silver coin contains 32.15 ounces of pure .999 silver and has a mintage of just 38,861 coins. This is one of the few 1 kilo silver coins on the market today. The Lunar II 1 kilo silver coin is considered legal tender in Australia with a face value of 30 Dollars.

The 1 Kilo Lunar II Horse silver coin is popular with both collectors and investors due to the unique design, large weight and limited mintage.

The front side of the 2014 Lunar II Horse 1 kilo silver coin depicts two horses standing next to a stream. One of the horses is leaning down to take a drink while the other horse looks off into the distance. Behind the horses are tree branches, which enhance the beauty of the design.

The Chinese character for horse is inscripted above the motif. On the bottom outer edge are the words “Year of the Horse”. The letter “P” is embossed on the right outer edge and represents the Perth Mint. The coin edge is reeded and slightly raised which protects the motif from damage.

The reverse side shows the portrait of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The queen is shown wearing a royal crown and earring. The portrait of the queen was designed by artist and engraver Ian Rank-Broadley.

The inscriptions around the outer edge are the name of the regent “Elizabeth II”, the country of origin “Australia”, the face value “30 Dollars”, the date of issue “2014” and the weight and purity “1 KG 999 Silver”.

1 Kilo Lunar II Silver Coin Series
