Obverse:
The obverse depicts the usual Temple of Heaven motif with Chinese characters at the top within a second circle meaning People's Republic of China. The year of issue „1996“ is shown at the bottom.
Reverse:
A single panda is seen climbing a tree with all four paws and left lower leg on branch. Around the edge of the motif characters display metric purity „.999“ and „1/4 oz Au“. In front of the panda face are the nominal value 25 and Chinese for yuan.
