The Lunar III series by the Perth Mint follows the Chinese zodiac cycle, with each coin representing a different animal, such as the tiger, symbolising power and bravery. On the reverse of the Lunar III Tiger 2oz Silver Coin 2022, an adult tiger and its cub traverse rocky terrain amidst bamboo plants and ferns. The Chinese character for tiger is displayed with the word "TIGER" and the year of issue. The 'P' mintmark denoting the Perth Mint and the designer's initials 'JM' for Jennifer McKenna are also included.
The obverse displays a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by renowned artist Jody Clark. The weight, purity of the silver and the face value of 2 dollars are inscribed in the surrounding legend.
The Lunar III Tiger 2oz Silver Coin 2022 contains two troy ounces of 999.9/1000 fine silver and has a metric weight of 62.206 grams. It measures 50.60 mm in diameter. It is also available in weights of 10 kilos, 1 kilo, 5oz, 1oz and ½ oz. The gold edition of the 2022 Lunar III Tiger has a different reverse image and is available in weights of 2oz, 1oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz and 1/10 oz.
