Krugerrand 1/10oz Gold Coin 2022
Rand Refinery
The Rand Refinery was the inventor of the standard 1oz investment gold coin. With the launch of the Krugerrand in 1967 it still produces the most well-known gold coin in the world today.
The obverse of the Krugerrand 1/10 oz Gold Coin 2022 features a portrait of Paul Kruger which was designed by Otto Schultz in 1892. The surrounding inscriptions read "SUID-AFRIKA" and "SOUTH AFRICA".
The reverse shows a South African springbok, designed by Coert Steynberg in 1947. "KRUGERRAND" is inscribed above the image with the year of minting split left and right and the weight below.
The gold Krugerrand has a purity of 22 karats (917/1000), which gives it durability and a reddish colour. No face value is displayed on the coin but it is recognised as legal tender in South Africa.
The Krugerrand 1/10 oz Gold Coin 2022 is minted from one-tenth of a troy ounce of fine gold and has a fine weight of 3.11 grams. It measures 16.50 mm in diameter with a thickness of 1.19 mm. The Krugerrand is also available in weights of 1oz, ½ oz and ¼ oz in gold and 1oz in silver.
The Krugerrand is internationally recognised and prized for its rich history and charming design. This has cemented its status in the world of precious metal investments.
