The coin includes inscriptions of "AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO," the Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark, the year of issue, and details of the coin's weight and purity.
On the obverse there is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, by artist Jody Clark, with the inscription "ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA" together with the coin's legal tender value of 100 dollars.
The coin contains one troy ounce of 999.9/1000 pure gold with a metric equivalent of 31.10 grams. It measures 32.60 mm in diameter with a thickness of 2.80 mm. The 2020 gold coin is also available in weights of ½ oz, ¼ oz and 1/10 oz.
